Abstract
This paper assesses the various reactive compensation techniques for integrating large wind farms into power system networks. The emerging concern regarding reactive compensation is due to the connection requirements for wind generators to participate in reactive power control and to `ride-through´ network faults. This paper presents the detailed modeling criteria needed to carry out assessment for reactive requirements both from steady-state power flow perspective and also from dynamic/transient analysis viewpoint.
