Abstract :
At present, the majority of studies about coverage are based on isomorphic sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks, and such assumptions can simplify the problem. But we have to consider the coverage of heterogeneous nodes because of actual application. This paper presents a coverage-enhancing algorithm for heterogeneous sensor networks. We design the sensing model of heterogeneous nodes based on their characteristics, analyze and define the coverage problem on the basis of the model, demonstrate how to maximize the coverage in ideal state, and enhance the entire coverage of heterogeneous network. Simulations show the validity of the algorithm.
