Abstract :
To investigate the issue of market share, people first perform market discrimination and then propose a model to explain, analyze, evaluate, and predict it. Traditional approach is through observation, questionnaire, and data analysis with statistic mechanisms. This is a static approach, which has its constraints and drawbacks in investigating problems in a dynamic environment. This study is to investigate dynamic market share problem with cellular automata. The whole consumer environment is represented with a 2-dimensional grid. Our purpose is to look into the interactions between consumers and markets. Each grid represents a consumer, whose behavior is determined by itself, other consumers, and market. Four constructs are considered, including feedback, interaction, static, and term (to be referred as FIST). Through real time computation and rich graphic display, we show different results with dynamic graphic displays. And we hope to provide an assistant tool to those who like to perform different data analysis with different choices of parameters.
