Abstract
Because of the medium inhomogeneity at the interface between two different insulation dielectrics, the surface of ceramic insulator would accumulate a certain amount of surface charge which makes the electric field distortion of insulator surface, and then affects creeping discharge of insulator under operating voltage. In this paper, simulates the effect of surface charge accumulation on flashover voltage of ceramic insulator, and the results proves that when the density of surface charge is over large, the electric field strength will increase significantly under the same voltage which possibly lowers flashover voltage of insulator. Finally, proves the simulation result indirect referring of related experimental conclusions.
