Abstract :
In this paper, a two stage adaptive beamformer in the presence of mutual coupling is proposed for the quasi-continuous wave radar. In the first stage, a new direction finding method is presented in presence of sensor mutual coupling. The proposed direction finding method provides estimate of the mutual coupling coefficients in the receiving array. Moreover, it is able to estimate the angle-of-arrivals as well as the power of the signals. After then, in the second stage, a reconstructed covariance matrix is used to obtain the optimum weight vector based on the capon beamforming algorithm in the presence of mutual coupling. The proposed adaptive beamformer is described in detail, and its behaviour is illustrated by a numerical example.
