Abstract
In this paper a planar antenna is studied for wideband phased antenna applications. This antenna consists of a wide-band tapered-slot feeding structure, curved radiators and a parasitic element. It is a modification of the conventional dual exponential tapered slot antenna and can be viewed as a printed dipole antenna with tapered slot feed. A parameter study of dual-polarized tapered slot antenna (TSA) shows the key features that affect the wide-band and widescan performance of this antenna. The overall performance can be optimized by judiciously choosing a combination of parameters. The design guideline is introduced, and the antenna parameters including VSWR , radiation patterns and gain are investigated. The operating bandwidth with covers almost the whole spectrum from 2.2 to 15 GHz.
