Abstract :
With the deepening of research on knowledge engineering and product design, it is possible and necessary that design knowledge base is applied to the product design and development. This product design model based on design knowledge base can not only greatly shorten the product design and development cycle and improve the customer satisfaction but also enhance the success rate and the efficiency of product design and development. Firstly, design knowledge, product knowledge and design knowledge base in the process of product design and development are analyzed and discussed. Secondly, the case-based reasoning theory is introduced and analyzed, which will be applied in product design and development. Finally, the basic working process of product design and development based on design knowledge base is proposed. And the feature of this model is analyzed and summarized. In short, the model on product design and development based on design knowledge base is a new attempt on the organic integration of knowledge management and product development, which will be also one of new product design and development models.
