Abstract :
Norway early completed an extensive power grid, and has always been advanced in terms of technological solutions. Also, Norway was among the first to deregulate its electricity market (1991), but just like in the rest of Europe, the opinions of customers were not considered important in this process. Price was the only competitive parameter, and few companies were concerned with customer service, information and value added services. This situation endured until two dry years in a short time span led to a tightening of capacity and record-high electricity prices. Consumers reacted aggressively to the price policies and the business experienced a lot of negative press. Needless to say, this had serious consequences for the reputation of the power utility business.
