Abstract
In the new environment, congestion management is one of the key functions of Independent System Operator (ISO). It is the process that ensures the transmission system does not violate its operating limits. This paper takes the advantages of ¿DC Load Flow¿ and ¿Power Transfer Distribution Factor¿ as linear approaches, to handle the power system analysis quickly. We can know which area is congested and control the congestion using ¿Optimal Power Flow¿ for the congested area(s). The proposed approach is tested on the 10-area system. The detailed results and analysis are given in the paper.
