Abstract :
Knowledge representation (KR) is critical to establish effective knowledge-based systems (KBSs) and closely linked with knowledge reasoning and the extension of a KBS. At the same time, KR is the bottleneck that all knowledge engineers face, especially in representing complex domain knowledge. This paper proposes a new approach based on unified modeling language (UML) which takes knowledge as a process of system analyst and description in the perspective of object-oriented ideology. UML, with abundant assistance tools, is characterized by its reliable, mature syntax and provides favorable structure and strong expressiveness capacity. Furthermore, this paper takes composite materials manufacture area for example and introduces knowledge classifications and UML models they are represented with.
