Abstract
Carbon nanofibers (CNF) were synthesized by a glow-arc discharge at frequencies of 42 kHz and at relatively low power supply (360 W) under a helium-methane atmosphere. The behaviour of temporal evolution of voltage and current discharges is studied. The product obtained was analyzed by scanning and transmission electron microscopy and Raman scattering, showing CNF relatively free of amorphous-carbon. Preliminary results of a toxic gas adsorption (nitric oxide, NO) in CNF are also reported.
