Abstract :
A novel technique for face recognition is presented in this paper. wavelet transform, PCA and SVM are combined in this technique. wavelet transform is used for preprocessing the images in order to handle bad illumination. In recognition stage, support vector machine (SVM) is adopted as classifier. Experiments based on Cambridge ORL face database indicated that our approach can achieve better accuracy than use PCA only.
