  • Abstract
    Since wavelet-based image coding method suits digital image and video coding, it has been welcomed by video coding field. The BQ mode of MPEG-4´s visual texture coding has adopted Predicative Embedded Zero-tree Wavelet Coding Algorithm (PEZW). Although in PEZW there is the germ of the unified scheme for fast EZW coding algorithm, it hasn´t completely implemented the unified scheme. Thus, its algorithm is more complex, and its coding speed is slower. Hence, the authors of this paper have applied the unified scheme for fast EZW decoding algorithm to improving PEZW, reducing the complexity of the algorithm and improving the decoding speed of the algorithm greatly.
