Abstract
Digital home network extends the functions and applications of public network to our house by a home gateway, and provides integrative function such as voice, data, multimedia, control and management by connecting all kinds of information terminals (such as household appliance, PC, etc.) through wireless and wired mediums, achieving sufficient exchange and share of information among the terminals inside the house and between them and external public network. The transmission medium of digital home network includes RF (radio frequency), powerline, phoneline, coaxial cable and serial bus, etc. This paper analyzes the MAC technologies of digital home with its special requirements which merged wireless and wired mediums, and designs corresponding system architecture to provide a reliable home network with QoS assurance which can cover with the whole rooms by selecting transmission medium with maximal data throughput and PHY parameters adaptively.
