Abstract :
The severe nonlinearity of translation meshing motor (TMM) make it hard to get a good control performance with conventional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. In this paper, an intelligent PID controller based on fuzzy logic for TMM drive system is developed. The parameters of the proposed controller are tuned online according to fuzzy logic tuning rules which are summarized from the experts´ control knowledge and operators´ experience. The fuzzy PID controller has the merits of both fuzzy controller and PID controller. The proposed controller is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment and implemented on an experimental TMM drive system platform. The control system responds quickly with little overshoot. The simulation and experiment results show that the proposed fuzzy PID controller has superior control performance compared to conventional PID controller, particularly in handing nonlinearities.
