Abstract
In this paper, an empirical, econometric model research would be done on the relationship between SO2 emission and our economic growth, energy consumption and policy implement with theoretical paradigm of the Environmental Kuznets Curves (EKC) by using panel data of economic growth and SO2 emission in 28 provinces, municipals and autonomous regions from 1995 to 2007. The results reveal the EKC characteristics at the present stage and the factors affecting the discharge of pollutant sulfur dioxide, indicating that the relationship researched does not show the feature of ¿Inverted U¿ in standard EKC, but the feature of ¿Inverted N¿. This result also indicates that environmental pollution is not only affected by the economic growth, but also by factors involving energy consumption, industrial structure and policy implement.
