Abstract
We present here a method that estimates the parameters´ variance in a parametric model for neutron time of flight. The method yields explicit formulas for parameter variances expressed in terms of the choice, settings, and placement of the detector and the oscilloscope. The formulas are obtained independently of calculation of parameter values and are valid for general measurement systems and for typical signal shapes. Consequently, the presented results can serve as a tool in planning a measurement setup.
