Abstract :
Land cover data in South Africa has evolved over the last 15 years from a coarse scale, generic dataset to fine scale, user-specific datasets. This process has been driven by user demands as technology has improved, applications have become more diverse and new legislation has necessitated. Developments in imagery and related technologies, methods, hardware and software have enabled the remote sensing industry to meet these challenges.
