Abstract :
There are more than twenty models presented for 3D geosciences modeling during the past decade all these models have some deficiencies for creating model of geological body, but some of them have advantage for spatial analysis, it is a limit for these models to be applied widely. A generalized tri-prism (GTP) model, being capable of spatial topological relationship describing, is introduced. This model takes borehole data as its original data source. It is very powerful for real-3D geosciences modeling and visualization. It can easily convert to other models to fetch up the deficiencies of its spatial analysis. The new approach for 3D modeling and visualization of geological body based on GTP volume, and the method of transform this model into B-reps model, tetrahedron model, irregular hexahedron and regular hexahedron are introduced. A real-3D geosciences modeling system, GeoMo3D, developed with VC++, OpenGL and SQL sever, an actual 3D geological model, is shown as a case.
