Abstract :
EMI measurements, analysis, EMI hardening and system level EMC analysis are routine tasks to be executed before certifying the EMC worthiness of combat vehicles. EMI case histories generated at subsystem level plays a Key role in distinguishing potential emitters and sensitive saucepots. Once the matrix analysis is complete, a true picture of electromagnetic compatibility emerges which is validated at system level measurements and analysis. This also establishes a methodology to verify the theoretical predictions, if carried out already. Further this process generates a permanent case history record with respect to every combat vehicle and its subsystems exclusive electromagnetic behaviour. Expert system comes handy in this chain of activities where the knowledge base on EMC is already available. It is essential that the limitations in analysis and practical measurements are to be well specified. This paper briefly addresses all these aspects for efficient certification tasks.
