Abstract :
A minute error in workmanship may degrade the performance of the system and will become the cause for coupling of noise in-particularly when the lines carry the transients or surges. The amplitude levels also will vary if the line impedance varies. Power supply and signal cable lengths may raise the conducted and radiated emissions. Curtailing of lengths are most essential. Coupling of emissions can be minimized by isolating and properly routing the cables. The authors would like to express their views that the total EMC of the system cannot be achieved only by design. A minute problem may also arise in the final configuration. These problems can be solved with small fixes. There is no doubt that the maximum problems can be solved by design. If the system is compact, the EMC assurance by design becomes further tough. In this paper, the authors highlighted about the EMI hardening techniques used in controlling the conducted and radiated emissions and also in achieving the EMC against the conducted susceptibility levels.
