Abstract :
International EMI/EMC standard for electrical fast transients (EFT) specifies bunch of very fast rise time pulses superimposed on to power / signal line. The EFT is a very efficient source of radiation when it is applied through a long cable. This paper presents the results of radiation from such test setup under various conditions of operation. The ancillary equipment and main equipment are to be isolated from this radiation source in order to couple the EFT, through conducted media rather than radiated means as per standard. The measurements were carried out for different cable length, various pulse amplitude levels for different Equipment Under Test (EUT) and repeated for pulse generator from different manufacturer. The electric field strength of the order of 5-8 V/m was measured in the frequency range up to 50 MHz.
