Abstract :
Failure and circuit upset of electronic equipment due to transients is a problem now and is one which promise of becoming more of a problem in the future as trends continue towards miniaturization and circuit complexity. Protection methods are used more or less extensively and often haphazardly. Ferrites are widely used for suppression of electrical fast transients (EFT) and electrostatic discharge in electronic equipment. The authors specifically worked with Ni substituted Li-Zn-Mn ferrite with various composition and observed excellent result to suppress the EFT and ESD in energy meter and process control equipment.
