Abstract
Artificial neural networks process data or information with new qualities, and offer new possibilities of developing IC processes and circuits. For the use of the full advantage of parallel processing in these networks we have to implement them into silicon. VLSI chips are shown for the digital technique, several concepts for analog versions are discussed. A short outlook about new technologies based on silicon, such as cooled circuits, optoelectronics, and molecular electronics closes the overview.
