Abstract
The conventional phased-array radar provides coherent processing gain while the MIMO radar exploits spatial diversity gain to improve the system performance. We investigate a hybrid bistatic radar combining these two configurations to take advantage of both gains. The probability of detection of the hybrid system is derived, and the CRB and the MSE of the maximum likelihood estimation for both angle of departure and angle of arrival are evaluated to assess the direction finding performance.
