Abstract :
Japanese Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) wood was dried by superheated steam under the temperature of 140, 160, 180 degree C and the relative humidity of 100% to make wood flooring. Moisture absorption and desorption characteristics and chemical composition of treated wood were analyzed to investigate the dimensional stability at saturated and dry ambient condition. The results showed that the dimensional stability of wood treated with superheated steam under high temperature was significantly improved.
