In this paper, an effective approach based on MATLAB for science and engineering teaching reform and cultivation of innovation talents in Universities is presented. A brief introduction of MATLAB is given to show the necessity and feasibility of applying MATLAB. The concrete practicable methods in classroom teaching and practice teaching are discussed. In the process of improving teaching quality, the innovation ability of students is developed.
