Abstract :
Intelligent Manufacturing Systems requires advanced and efficient information technologies and tools in order to achieve value creation in global markets. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a novel information technology that helps companies to monitor and control the manufacturing process in time through the collection of manufacturing data in the job-shop. In this paper, we present a real-time data collection policy for dynamic job-shop based on RFID technology. Specifically, the framework presented allows for information-feedback based dynamic manufacturing process control where information collected about the system is used to help to make the real-time decisions and realize the closed-loop control of production process, thus make job-shop process controlling more feasible and effective. Experimental studies indicate that the main superiority of the suggested approach is the easily way for data acquisition, sharing and feedback of complex dynamic information in manufacturing process, even in situations when there are frequent disruptions in the job-shop, including the disruptions caused by the introduction of tight due date jobs or machine breakdown. This solution offers an affordable, stable, and high performance solution to transform the shop floor production control into a more intelligent system with faster information collection and feedback cycles.
