Abstract :
A complete stereo 16bit oversampled D/A converter has been realized in 0.7¿m BiCMOS technology. The performance limitations of the system arise from the output smoothing filter here reported. This is a fully integrated 4th order filter which satisfy the specification (THD of -72dB for a full scale input signal and SNR of 96dB) for a 16bit audio CODEC, with a reduced power consumption (about 40mW per-channel). This has been achieved with an accurate evaluation in the design of the possible noise and distortion sources, and by proper limiting their contributions.
