Abstract :
A fully monolithic 45MHz Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO) is described, that achieves high linearity (differential gain below 1%) at frequency sweeps up to 25MHz. This has been accomplished by way of a new compensation method that cancels the effect of Switching Time Delay (STD). Because a forward compensation method is applied, the modulation bandwidth is not affected. The circuit has been integrated in a 3GHz bipolar semi-custom process.
