Abstract :
This paper represents a new fast method to evaluate power quality factors defined in p-q-r coordinates at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) for two cases of conventional trains and compensating on-board Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) trains in an AC electrical railway Auto-transformer (AT)-fed. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is implemented to minimize the power losses in the proposed electrical railway. Simulation results reveal the efficiency of the compensating PWMs to improve power quality factors at the PCC. Simulation codes are programmed in MATLAB software.
