Abstract
An EHR is a longitudinal collection of electronic health information about individual patients or populations, and is capable of being shared across different health care settings, by being embedded in network-connected enterprise-wide information system. An important consideration in the process of developing electronic health records is to plan for the long-term preservation and storage of these records. Most commercial EHR systems are designed to combine data from the large ancillary services, such as pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology, with various clinical care components. The number of integrated components and features involved in any given clinical is dependent upon the data structures and systems implemented by the technical teams. EHR system in the future requires the emergence of an integrated framework of ontology tools and consolidation of system vendors.
