Abstract :
In this paper, based on an asteroid filter method, temporal continuity is used in both video text localization and tracking. To utilize the temporal continuity in localization, heuristic thresholding scheme is first designed to pick out strong horizontal, vertical and diagonal texture points in the process of localization. In order to best use the redundancy of video texts and speed up processing, special tracking scheme is also given. Our tracking scheme classifies texts into three categories: static texts, horizontal rolling texts and vertical rolling texts. Hereafter, different schemes are applied to track each kind of texts both forward and backward and those two kinds of tracking results are finally amalgamated. Experimental results show that our temporal continuity integrated heuristic thresholding scheme performs well in video text localization. The backward-forward integrated tracking scheme maximally utilizes the time redundancy while precisely tracking rolling text.
