Abstract :
In Japan, the number of senior citizens who are taking medicine has been increasing due to population aging. Since they have many risks of incorrect dosing, we propose iMec System for assisting their caretakers in dosing monitoring. iMec System is composed of iMec (intelligent medicine case), Ubiquitous Sensor, and iMec Server. iMec is a camera-embedded medicine case and recognizes whether a senior citizen has picked up medicines for confirming dosing quantity. And also, iMec has a touch display for setting the dosing timing of him/her (e.g. after eating breakfast) and estimates the living state of him/her for confirming dosing timing. Ubiquitous Sensor is inexpensive wireless sensors embedded in the house of him/her and assists iMec in collecting the information necessary for living state estimation. iMec Server accumulates the dosing condition of him/her periodically and provides web interfaces that contain the information necessary for dosing monitoring. In addition, iMec Server sends e-mail to caretakers when iMec detects signs of incorrect dosing. We used Fuzzy inference algorithm for living state estimation and confirmed that iMec System could estimate basic living states related to common dosing timings by simulation.
