            Abstract :
As a high precision measurement displacement sensor, Grating-Ruler has been used widely. In this paper, we present a method which combines FPGA (XC3S100E) device, hardware description language (Verilog) and EDA software (XILINX ISE) to deal with the output signal from Grating-Ruler. The whole processing is made of three parts: signal preprocessing module, subdivided and direction-judgement module, reversible counter module. Our analysis and simulation results show that this method is more reliable and has shorter development cycle than traditional methods. Moreover, we can modify the system´s functions easily according to the specific characteristics of FPGA.
