Abstract :
Digital rights expression language (DREL) is a key technology of digital rights management (DRM) which can be used to effectively protect the digital multimedia resources in the multimedia resource service environment. In the technology framework of DRM, DREL is considered as a standard mechanism which can be used to describe all the digital rights elements of multimedia resource effectively. For that reason, many DERL standards and specifications have been provided by companies and used by customers. In this paper, a summarization of multimedia DREL is introduced and eight DERL standards are described and compared briefly.
