Abstract :
This paper analyzed the performance of AIS (Automatic Identification System) application in Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), and simulated the time slot occupied schedule of SOTDMA (Self-Organized TDMA) communication protocol of AIS. By the result of simulation the measures of how to increase the capacity of the AIS network in different conditions and how to avoid the network congestion in crowded VTS area were discussed. The study of this paper is available for the vessel traffic management and is meaningful for keeping the AIS network more stably.
