Abstract :
A novel locating vehicle license plate (VLP) method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, preprocessing is used on the license image. Then a series of morphological operations are used to extract important contrast features to find out all license plates candidates. As a result of the noise, more than one candidate will be extracted after the morphological operations, so the auto -correlation based verification method is applied. Experimental results show that the proposed method is very robust and effective for locating vehicle plate.
