Abstract :
Artificial synthesized manganese-calcium coagulant can be prepared with manganese sulfate solution aerated in calcium hydroxide solution. The coagulation performance was studied in low turbidity kaolin simulate water sample (about 10 NTU). It can be concluded that the turbidity after sedimentation is reduced from 8NTU to 2NTU, the turbidity after filtration is reduced below 1NTU when the dosage of the coagulant is 39mg/L (calculated with MnO2) and the aerated time is 30min. The generated coagulant core can improve the removal efficiency of turbidity. The coagulant performance is not influenced by the pH values and temperature of water sample. It can be concluded that bridging and wrap is the primary mechanism of coagulation. While electric double layer compression and adsorption is the minor one.
