Abstract
Laparoscopic virtual reality based surgery simulators are becoming a ubiquitous tool in resident training and assessment. Abdominal organ surface are major visual cue of laparoscopic imagery, so it makes sense to develop algorithms of generation of texture of the abdominal organs. This paper presents a method of organ texture generation with Perlin noise. The noise function, interpolation function and smooth function are described in detail. Texture simulation of the liver and intestines, as well as fatty texture are given. Experiment results show that this method can be used to generate simple organ textures.
