Abstract
The traditional congestion control mechanisms are established upon the assumption that there is a contemporaneous end-to-end path in the network and these methods can´t be used in DTN. This paper has proposed a new congestion avoidance mechanism based on path avoidance for DTN. This mechanism optimizes the management of node storage and divides the node state into normal state, congestion adjacent state, congestion state. Based on the different node states correspondingly separate strategies is employed to avoiding congestion. Simulation is performed through OPNET and the results demonstrate that new avoidance mechanism can effectively decrease the average delivery delay.
