Abstract :
In this paper dielectric TE dual-mode resonator filters are discussed. The dielectric core element of the resonators has a cross-shape to provide dual-mode operation. Two through-holes are formed in the center to improve the spurious performance. Since the holes are placed between the two orthogonal resonators, the choice of different diameters cause coupling between the modes. Concepts for realizing cross-coupling and coupling to coaxial air cavity resonators are discussed. Measurement results for a single resonator and two coupled dual-mode resonators are presented. The resulting 4 pole bandpass filter has a center frequency of of 2022.5 MHz and a bandwidth of 28 MHz.
