Abstract
An extension to space environment data analysis proposed by COSPAR/PRBEM in 2008 is proposed in this paper. By correlating two channels available on the same vehicle, it is shown that the definition of regions or times when protons or electrons dominate radiation monitor measurements can be given. This is of particular interest when the response function of the instrument is such that proton and electron events are mixed. Taking the advantage of having well-defined radiation monitor response functions, a detailed analysis of count rate data is applied to PROBA-1/SREM. It is then possible to sort proton count rates and electrons count rates from a given channel and found well-known general trends of electron and proton short-term and long-term dynamics.
