Abstract :
Radio spectrum is a very important and valuable resource. Efficient utilization of spectrum draws people much attention. Likewise, as a significant portion of communication system, modulation is always one of focal points. In this paper, we introduce a novel method of UNB modulation named Tri-State Integer Cycle Modulation (TICM) wherein a carrier signal, comprised of a continuum of sine waves, is modulated such that spectrum utilization is minimal. Simulation shows that major energy will concentrate on narrow bandwidth of frequency only when frequencies of three sine waves are extremely close. By analysing modulated signal spectrum, this characteristic has been verified.
