Abstract :
This paper deals with the estimation of the channel impulse response (CIR) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) systems. We first propose a low-complexity channel estimator and the corresponding training design. Since no complex multiplications are needed at the receiver, the computational complexity of the proposed scheme is much lower than that of the maximum likelihood (ML) estimation. However, the complexity is reduced at the expense of performance loss. To find the trade-off between complexity and performance, we then modify the original proposed scheme. The simulation results show that, compared with the ML estimation, the proposed scheme can significantly reduce the complexity with only slight performance losses.
