Abstract :
This paper presents a general module for the detecting and decoding of serial buses, which could be used in oscilloscope and other electronic measuring instruments. This module aims at serial buses including: SPI, IIC, CAN, RS232, etc.. Both synchronized and asynchronous serial buses can be received and decoded to the information they carried, even some errors in those communications will be detected and displayed. The first part of this paper analyses and demonstrates the common attributes of serial buses. Then based on those common attributes we construct a general module for detecting those buses with different decoders adapted to different protocols. In the finals, this module will be implemented on an FPGA and showed in an oscilloscope.
