Abstract
The evaluation of the economic contribution of training programs of first generation adult immigrants is a field of importance against social exclusion and in favor of economic and social integration. The aim of this paper is to present some preliminary findings on the impact of language training programs on adult immigrant´ income in Greece. Data were collected from the population of foreigners who attended a Greek language course organized by the Ministry of Education General Secretariat for Lifelong Learning. Overall, the results indicate that change in income was more noticeable for female immigrants, as compared to their male counterparts, two years after the completion of the training program. We conclude by highlighting the importance of such initiatives and offer further directions for future research.
