Abstract
A new analytical method on the motion reliability of planar four-bar linkage is proposed. In this method, its mathematical displacement model is established firstly, and then original errors are assumed as the random variables. The reliability model is established using the probability method in three cases which are the bar length errors, the bar length errors and joint clearance errors, and the bar length errors, the joint clearance errors, and hinge wear errors. The motion reliability is analyzed and calculated by the theoretical calculation and computer simulation. The effectiveness and application value of the new analytical method are further verified by an engineering example.
