Abstract
Mobile health or mHealth is not more a cool new application riding on mobile wave. It is becoming integral and important part of the health care eco-system that tackles the problems of aging population, growing health care expenses and support for innovation in health care and public health. This shift brings mHealth systems in though, everyday life arena where aspects such as usefulness, flexibility, business models and integration with existing health and telecommunication systems becomes more important. The first step for survival is widely accepted standards and reference models. In this paper we investigate potentials of application of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as a communication paradigm for the mobile health systems. Specifically, we investigate how SIP communication may facilitate use of selected telecommunications service such as video streaming in the mobile health system.
