Abstract
A method which converts a Bayer image to National Television System Committee (NTSC) image format by using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) as the design base is described. The converter contains a Bayer Color to YCbCr function block, an YCbCr to CCIR656 function block, an external SDRAM, and a digital to analog converter (DAC). The design was successfully integrated in FPGA with the total power consumption of only 300 mW, and is suitable for the portable devices when the converter is driven by a single 3.7V Li-ion rechargeable battery.
